1859 EICHARTS BUILDING

Extension of the historic 1859 Eicharts Building, Queenstown Lakefront.

Firstly our engineering geologists undertook a comprehensive geotechnical investigation to understand the ground conditions below the extension.

Our geotechnical designers then collaborated with local structural engineer to design a combined ground improvement and structural foundation system that ensured the high performance expectations of the building would be met.

Key Project Challenges

  • Close proximity to the original (sensitive) building

  • High seismic code requirements

  • Liquefaction/lateral spreading effects associated with the sites geology and proximity to the lakefront
